Intoduction to Poetry

"I want them to water ski across the surface of a poem waving at the author's name on the shore." This is quoted from Bill Collins's poem entitled "Introduction to Poetry." I enjoyed reading this poem as he grazed on teaching students how to analyze poetry. It was simple and short but yet engaging, meaningful and full of personification. His goal of explaining students to better comprehend poetry was well accomplished as he fluently used poetic devices as well. In all this poem was wonderful.

  1. I agree with you Jasmine, this was a wonderful poem. I would recommend that all English teachers, 6th grade and up, should read this poem and have their class read this poem.
